Wonderful Day for a Baptism - May 16, 2016

May 16, 2016

Hello Family,

How are you doing?  How is everything going? Well, I started a new change.  The first week is done.  Wow time is flying by.  Sunday, we were able to talk in church.  It was awesome.   Everything is looking great.  I'm excited to hear all the big news and see how everything is going.

Monday we had to do transfers and drive around and make sure that everyone was getting to where they needed to go for the new areas.  So that was pretty much a full day of working with the missionaries.  Monday night we had some awesome Family Home Evenings.  We had one with Sister Victoria and a bunch of investigators were there.  It was awesome to have a big Family Home Evening.  After that we went to the Vega Family and were able to have another great Family Home Evening.  Everything is going great over all. On Tuesday our investigator Pablo, he had his baptism interview and passed and was baptized this week.  Pablo is the Dad of our pensionista.  He is 84 years old.  His daughter has been talking to him about the church for the last 15 years and finally he decided to be baptized.  That was really cool.  Saturday was awesome when I got to baptize him.  It was funny when we were in the font, he was really nervous to go under the water.  It was amazing to see the sacred experience that we had.  He is really cool and is a good guy.  He is super excited to be baptized and to be a member.  On Sunday he was confirmed and he received the priesthood.  So everything is going great with him.  So hopefully he can keep doing good and learning and becoming better.  Jeffers that we are teaching put a new date to be baptized on the 28th of this month.  We need to make sure that he keeps progressing and keeps coming to church and everything will go great.

On Wednesday we had our Leadership Council that was really cool.  I was able to learn a lot there with my comp and to see how we could do better as a zone and as a mission.  That was a great experience.   So that was a really cool day.  I learned a lot in the Leadership Council.  On Wednesday night it was more focused on the temporal side of the mission.  We worked on finances and on health for the missionaries and everything and what we need to do better for registering missionaries for Peruvian ID's.  That was really cool and then on Thursday we had the second part of our meeting which was the spiritual side where the President talks and the assistants talk. We take notes and make sure that everything is going great in the different zones.  That starts at 8 a.m. And goes until 2 or 3 in the afternoon.  It was a long day but I learned a lot of what we need to do as missionaries and what the President wants us to do on our mission.  So I really enjoyed Leadership Council.

In the afternoon we had an awesome day with a ton of lessons.  I was able to go to our investigators house Heidi that just got baptized 2 weeks ago.  I was able to go with her and her Mom.  My comp was with another member and I was also with member.  So I went and talked with her and her Mom.  Her Mom had a ton of questions of what it means to be a member and what her daughter needs to do because the Mom is not a member.  We went and explained everything to her.  We explained Young Women's and what is going to happen and what is expected from her.

We are also teaching Claudia, she is an investigator that is 17 and her parents do not want her to get baptized.  She is going to turn 18 in August.   We put her baptism date for August.  That is really cool.   Friday we were able to go to Los Olivos.  It is way far away, like a 30 minutes walk up the side of a mountain.  We went up there and talked with them. That was cool.

My comp had an ingrown toenail. I did some surgery.  I took out half of his toenail.  Now his is doing better.  It was pretty gnarley.  My comp said just put me under and give Dylan a license and a knife and I will be good.

In the night we went and talk with Pablo to make sure that he is doing good and that he was ready for his baptism.   Then we went and talked with Family Leon.  It was really good.  So her and her husband are not married.  He is getting better and is a little more receptive.  So that was really good.

On Saturday we had a meeting in the morning with the District Leaders of our Zone to make sure that they are doing everything good.  We went and filled up the baptismal font and then we went and ate lunch.   After lunch we finished preparing for the baptism.  Pablo was then baptized.  It was really cool there was a ton of people that came along with his family for an 84 year old that is getting baptized.  And then after that we had some awesome lessons with Aaron and Heidi.  They final came back after a month.  They had a date to be baptized in July.  They would get married first and then get baptized.  It was awesome and then we went and talked with the Taco Family.  They are another family that we are going to rescue.  They are coming back to church and are all members which is super cool.

On Sunday everything went good at church.  Pablo was there and was confirmed and received the priesthood.  And then in the night we went and talked with Abram and Elizabeth.  That was pretty hard.  They are struggling as a couple.  They were sealed two years ago and married for three.  They are struggling a ton with a new baby and everything.  It is just sad.  Abram is not doing too good in the gospel.  He is just struggling.  Elizabeth is doing really good.  She is super faithful.  After that we went and talked with Jaime.  It was his wife's birthday so we stop by to wish her Happy Birthday.  Everything is going great overall.  I'm super excited and happy to be here doing the work.  Hopefully everything can keep going great and I can keep learning. So our Penionista this week is going to Lima.  So we are going to be all over the place looking for somewhere to eat.  But overall everything is great.  Time is flying by and we are excited for you guys to get here and excited for the things that are going to come.  I love you guys so much.  I know that families are forever.    We just need to work and do our part and everything will work out.   I love you so much take care.
